Photos + Review: Rufus Du Sol at First Avenue (Minneapolis, MN)

First Avenue in Minneapolis,MN

I’m gonna be honest here and say that I was completely out of my element on this show. As anybody who knows me, or can see from my previous posts, metal and hard rock are where my heart lies, but I venture out every so often to pop groups or artists. Rufus du Sol was the first EDM band (if that genre is even appropriate for them) I’ve gone to see live and the photographer side of me left very disappointed. The lighting was so good, at least from afar, but in the pit everything was so high up on stage and foggy it was super hard to get a clear shot of much.

Luckily enough, auditorially (is that a word?), and like I said visually from afar the show was great. Rufus puts on a good show with good energy that I could tell the crowd was enjoyed a ton. I walked in completely surprised at how packed First Avenue was, not in the sense of the band’s pull, but that I didn’t know what kind of a crowd to expect for an EDM show. Personally I feel like I would have enjoyed this type of show more if the band played more fast paced music, but it was actually a nice change of pace to see a chill band.
