Ghost was far from the main thing on a majority of the 14,000+ Iron Maiden fans filling up the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul on Friday night, but these openers certainly worked hard to leave an impression.
Since the last time Ghost was in town, a number of things were different this time around. For starters, there was an actual bass player this night. Also, stories have been circulating that the entire band was fired by front man and current Papa Emeritus; Tobias Forge; and are now bringing him to court. Hell, Tobias may not even be the original Papa!
However, none of this came to mind when the lights dropped and the opening riff of “Square Hammer“; the group’s newest single off of the EP “Popestar”; came ripping out across the arena. Whoever is now a Nameless Ghoul, they did a fantastic job and I will be keeping an eye on where this band goes from here.
