This was one of those shows that I ended up getting a good amount of butterflies for. Skyway Theater was the place that convinced me to get a good camera after seeing a couple photographers for a Between the Buried and Me show last April there. I saw them in the photo pit and thought I could do that and it’d be awesome to do, so I went and researched a ton and took the plunge into the world of photography. Half a year later, I’ve covered 13 shows and this was the first show I covered and photographed at Skyway.
Also, it’s Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti. They’re enough to give me butterflies. Myles is a god on vocals, Mark is a god on guitar, and them playing Blackbird was one of my favorite moments of any concert this year.
Only negative of the night was Skyway’s website said the doors opened at 7PM and music starts at 8PM, so I get there at 7:50 and am quite surprised that the first band, 3 Pill Morning had already been playing. Luckily security was nice enough to let me shoot for the next three songs, which ended up being the only three songs I saw. Wish I could have seen the whole thing, especially since they’re really good and they’re local guys.
Other than that hiccup the night was as perfect as one could hope. Music was bumping, people were nice and many, and photographing bands and getting good shots is starting to become second nature to me.
