In the week leading up to the Free Press Summer Festival in Houston, Texas, the weather was calling rain and thunderstorms all day both Saturday and Sunday.  I was more than prepared for the rain but it didn’t seem to have any effect on the excitement of shooting my first festival.  I figured that I’d be shooting just as many bands in two days, than I have over the past two or so years here at Mezzic.  With the heat and humidity already kicking at 11:00 AM as I arrived at the festival grounds, the music was already on the way.
Although you could count the fans in the crowd at almost every act before about 3pm, the artists didn’t seem to mind.  Acts like Sir The Baptist and The Heavy put on sets meant for 100,000 people.  And to my liking, there had only been a few slight drizzles throughout the day leading up to sunset.  Once the sun began to set, the party started with Matt & Kim creating a frenzy of dancing festival-goers.  While the main stage was taken over by hip hop with rappers Logic, 2 Chainz, and Lil Wayne.
