Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA

Fall Out Boy brought their WinTour to Irvine on Saturday friends!  The band played a sold-out show along with PVRIS and Awolnation at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.  I know the venue is on the eve of closing but I’m telling you right now, if you’re gonna see a show at Irvine Meadows get there at least 2 hours before show time.  I left an hour and a half before door time and I still missed PVRIS’ set.  Getting to the parking lot is a complete nightmare (1 whole hour to drive the mile from the freeway exit) and leaving it is not any better.

I made it inside just in time for Awolnation.  Awolnation has their live show down to a science.  From the beautiful light that bathes them throughout the set to the fog and crowd participation it all makes for a super fun show experience.  The set began with “Run” and they hardly slowed down from then.  All stops were pulled, they got the entire crowd to jump up in unison as they  sang word for word and even got those in attendance to do the wave.  It was pretty awesome to see.

Awolnation Setlist:
Run
Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)
Not Your Fault
Windows
Kill Your Heroes
Woman Woman
I Am
Drum Solo
Burn It Down
Sail

When Fall Out Boy hit the stage the energy in the room exploded.  Quite literally, there was fire and fire works going off on song 2.  They began their set with “Irresistable” and the crowd was already in awe.  They totally hit us with the trifecta too.  “Irresistable,” followed by “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “The Phoenix.”  It’s extremely difficult to concentrate on taking photos when you are trying not to lose your collective shit.  Every song brought a memorable moment during the set.  Especially, during “Save Rock and Roll” when a huge photo of David Bowie graced the stage.  I ran all the way to the top of the venue to snag a photo of it.  We never got the snow that the other stops on the tour got but it was still a magic-filled show.
