It’s been way too long since we’ve seen Florida’s sweethearts, Copeland on a proper headlining tour. Though we were all beaming when Ixora was released there were many of us still pining for the chance to see these guys live again. Luckily for us folks in Southern California we got three chances. They played Los Angeles, San Diego, and finally Pomona. They hit The Glasshouse with We Are The City and Eisley and put on a beautiful show.
We Are The City was definitely the oomph of the show. Their high energy paired with their electric pop grabbed the attention of many and held onto it until the very end. I’d love to catch these guys again.
Eisley was sporting a very different lineup this time around. With only Sherri Dupree-Bemis and Garron Dupree holding down the original lineup the band sounded well with Christie Dupree handling Stacy’s vocal duties. Sherri and Garron looked like they were having the time of their life up there, though I didn’t really get that from the others. It’s gonna be a while before I get used to this new lineup but the music is just as great. Definitely catch Eisley the next time they’re in town.
We were all practically swimming in our anticipation and nostalgia by the time Copeland made their way to the stage. They started their set with “I Can Make You Feel Young Again” and we were all swooning. Some were singing but a lot of folks were just watching in awe at these guys perform these beautiful songs live. The guys sounded better than ever and with the accompaniment of the 3 person string ensemble there was a brilliant dimension to those songs we all loved so much. So many feels filled The Glasshouse when they played, “Grey Man,” “Sleep,” “Eat Sleep Repeat,” and of course “Love Affair” acoustically with Aaron Marsh solo. It felt very intimate even with all the people in the room. It was an incredibly warm and beautiful show.
