Friday night I got the chance to see Lady Lamb and The Districts.  After hearing a friend constantly rave about how talented Lady Lamb is, I finally got to experience it for myself.  Lady Lamb, otherwise known as Aly Spaltro, came out on stage to a few screams as she set up.  Initially, she seemed a little timid and stiff but once the lights went down, she let loose and all of that went away.  She has a huge voice that encompasses the entire room and sounds just as perfect live as she does recorded.  Not only is she a great vocalist, but she is a killer guitarist as well.  Her guitar solos were incredible.  Even though Lady Lamb uses more instruments in her recordings than she can bring on tour, she does not let that constrain her live performance.  She uses what she has and makes it sound just as good.  All of her songs are so catchy and infectious and when she’s having fun and dancing on stage, it makes the audience want to do so as well.  Her emotions come through in her music, which also helps make it extremely compelling.  She ended her set with the song “Crane Your Neck” and it was phenomenal.  Lady Lamb might not be a huge name right now, but she’s a fantastic musician with limitless potential.

Headlining their hometown show in front of a ton of family and friends was The Districts.  Like Lady Lamb, The Districts are also fun and energetic live.  Fans sang along as they played one popular song after the next.  With all their talent, you would never expect The Districts to be as young as they are.  Even though I was completely unfamiliar with their music before the night, they probably won me over within the first ten seconds of their set and definitely have a new fan now.
