Friday night I got the chance to see Mac DeMarco play a sold out show at the Trocadero.  He opened with “The Way You’d Love Her” and continued on with other songs from his 2015 release, Another One, as well as older favorites like “Ode to Viceroy.” DeMarco has a corky personality that comes through in his shows.  He’s so funny and it’s easy to tell that he’s meant to be on stage. He always seems cool and comfortable, like he’s not performing to thousands of people.  It’s hard to make the crowd feel like they’re not at a concert, but DeMarco creates such an intimate feeling that makes you forget about everything else happening in the world.  His voice is so pure and soothing.  He went through the rest of his set while the crowd sang and danced along to every song.  For encore, he came back out to cover “Enter Sandman” by Metallica, which was completely unexpected but I loved it.  Mac DeMarco is one of the best performers out there and if you’ve never seen him live before, you should definitely try to change that soon.
