Neon Trees (Provo, UT) and Coin (Nashville, TN)

Irving Plaza in New York, NY

Last night I got to see Neon Trees in front of a sold out crowd at Irving Plaza and it was a blast!  First I saw one of their openers, Coin.  I’ve never heard of them before this tour, but they were great.  They came out to “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson and it only got better from there.  The band played songs from their debut album, Run, that came out last month and completely won the crowd over.  Walking out of the photo pit, I heard a girl in the front tell her friend that “they’re perfect” while other fans danced along to the music, even though they may not have been familiar with it.  Overall, Coin played a very impressive set.

The moment Neon Trees hit the stage it becomes glaringly apparent that they are a band that knows how to put on a great show. Frontman Tyler Glenn has a phenomenal stage presence and can dance just as well as he sings.  They have such a great energy live that makes it nearly impossible for fans not to sing along, dance, and have a good time.  The band played songs off their newest album, Pop Psychology as well as older songs, like platinum hits “Animal” and “Everybody Talks.”  They are true professionals and their entire set sounded flawless.  Most people have probably heard at least one song by Neon Trees, but seeing them live gives you a whole new appreciation for the band.  I would definitely recommend seeing them next time they’re in town.
