Riverside Municipal Auditorium in Riverside, CA

Taking Back Sunday is back on the road friends and they have along The Menzingers and letlive.  A bit of an odd tour package one might think at first but rest assured it’s perfectly balanced.  They hit the fairly new Riverside Municipal Auditorium smack dab in the heart of Riverside, a super nice addition to the Inland Empire. The Menzingers started the night off with some super rad pop-punk that warmed up the crowd quite nicely.  I’ve seen them play shows of all sizes and they always make you feel like you’re at a house show in the best way possible.  If you haven’t seen The Menzingers live I’d suggest you put that on your to-do list.  Now, here’s a life lesson: never pass up an opportunity to see letlive.  You only need to watch a few seconds of their show before you make a mental note to never miss them when they come to town again.  Frontman Jason Butler is wild to say the least.  After watching the band completely wreck their set it’s easy to understand why everyone leaves a letlive. show completely enamored.  They’re the embodiment of an excellent live show experience and why statements like “we’re letlive., we’re your new favorite band” are totally appropriate.  But bands like The Menzingers, letlive. and many others wouldn’t be anywhere without bands like Taking Back Sunday paving the way.  Taking Back Sunday had the entire crowd eating out of their palms within seconds of hitting the stage.  As soon as the first notes of “What’s It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?” were heard, the crowd erupted and didn’t slow down much after that.  These gentlemen have their show down to a science and as frontman Adam Lazzara smoothly lead the way through their setlist, the crowd only got rowdier.  Especially because so much of their setlist were throwbacks.  The band seemed refreshed as a whole, I saw Lazzara more active than I had seen him in previous tours, hitting the crowd, catching some air in a few high jumps, and swaggering about the huge stage.  After Lazzara and John Nolan’s banter about how they didn’t know how good looking folks in Riverside were they finished the rest of their 22 song discography spanning set and the crowd didn’t miss a single beat.  Make damn sure you get your hands on their latest record Happiness Is and catch the show if it hits a town near you, dates are here.
