I’m not sure about you but I couldn’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than with Joyce Manor and The Garden. Since the show was sold out I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. Upset started the night off with a Brand New cover. I didn’t catch it due to the long line to get inside but I’m sure it was incredible. It wasn’t long before The Garden hit the stage and like a rush of air they blew through the venue and left the entire crowd in awe. But the energy in the room didn’t quite reach it’s peak until Joyce Manor hit the stage. They started their set with “Beach Community” and hardly stopped throughout the rest of their 19 song set that included fan favorites like “Heart Tattoo,” “Constant Headache,” and “Leather Jacket” among others. These guys killed their set and left the crowd thirsty for more. Luckily, the guys obliged and played a 4 song encore. Though the Glass House is a fairly big venue Joyce Manor still managed to make the show seem super intimate which is no easy feat. I thought that playing a bigger place might take away from the experience of catching Joyce Manor but this just wasn’t the case. Everything was set up perfectly. They even managed to have a photo booth set up where folks could go take photos alone or with friends and have them printed right then and there with a Joyce Manor Valentine’s Day theme border. Everyone left the venue with huge smiles on their faces whether they hit the show solo, with a significant other, or a bunch of friends. The band will be back in April for a show at The Roxy and of course at Coachella so if you have yet to catch Joyce Manor live, I suggest you get on that as soon as possible. You will not regret it.
