Friday night, I saw Modern Baseball return home to Philadelphia for a sold out show at the TLA with support from Knuckle Puck, Foxing, Crying, and Somos. Somos and Crying opened up the show with two great sets! Next, the lights went out and all of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” played as Foxing came out on stage. They played fan favorites from The Albatross, such as “The Medic” and “Rory,” as well as a few others. They always put on an incredibly passionate performance. Next was Knuckle Puck with a high energy set filled with tons of crowd surfing. Then, Modern Baseball closed out the night. They played songs from Sports as well as their 2014 release, You’re Gonna Miss It All, and even songs from their split with Marietta (which they said they would never play again). The highlight of the night was definitely their cover of “When You Were Young” by The Killers though. Not even two years ago, I saw Modern Baseball play to about 25 people in a small room on Long Island, so it was really amazing to see how far they’ve come in such a small period of time, and with some of the band members still in college, this is definitely just the beginning for the band.
