The Gospel Tour is underway folks and in case you were wondering it’s fucking fantastic. The tour stopped by the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre located right-smack-dab-in-the-middle of the SDSU campus in San Diego on Wednesday. And as if seeing Panic! At The Disco live isn’t enough they’ve also got along Los Angeles’ own Youngblood Hawke and Cincinnati’s Walk The Moon. The show is ace from start to finish. Youngblood Hawke did an incredible job at getting the crowd warmed up. By the end of their set the entire crowd was on their feet singing along to “We Come Running.”
Walk The Moon is an impressive band and it’s apparent from the moment they step on stage. I was blown away by their set and old fans and new fans alike in the crowd were dancing the entire time the band was playing. They even managed to spark a sea of lights as every one in attendance turned on their cell phone flashlights or held up their lighters. It was rad. I’ll be sure to keep tabs on these guys from now on.
I had not seen Panic! At The Disco since their tour with The Academy Is, Acceptance, and Hellogoodbye way back in the day. 2006 I think. Panic! At The Disco has come miles since then. Their music is fantastic and eclectic, though it was still really fun to see Panic! play older jams off of A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. Also, can I say that I fully support Brendon Urie’s “Positive Hardcore” part of the show. Brendon Urie’s vocal range all on it’s own is impressive. I had no idea he could even do that. Petition for a Brendon Urie Hardcore album please. Plus their cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody” in it’s entirety was one of the best covers I’ve seen in quite some time. After watching their show it’s safe to say that Panic! At The Disco is obviously at the top of their game and only getting better. Go experience the band live, dates are here.
