If you were looking for the hottest spot in Minnesota on Tuesday night, the corner of West 7th Street and Kellogg was it. The Minnesota Wild were taking on the Chicago Blackhawks in round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Xcel Energy Center, and next door in the Roy Wilkins Auditorium, Queens of the Stone Age.
Show opener Chelsea Wolfe performed under only a bit of light, with a very subdued feel to her show. This would be a very stark contrast to the main act of the night. QotSA opened with the shredder “You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar, but I Feel Like a Millionaire” off of Songs For the Deaf and proved rock and roll doesn’t need time to warm up. Bassist Michael Shuman was situated closest to my side of the stage and brought a ton of energy to each song.
