House of Blues in San Diego, CA

The Great American Cult Tour is underway folks!  Bayside recently stopped by the San Diego House of Blues and brought along Mixtapes, Daylight, and Four Year Strong.  I got to the venue just in time to catch Four Year Strong play an incredible show. The crowd went nuts and stayed that way.  There were dude fights, chick fights, and crowd surfing. It was awesome.  Four Year Strong is a band I wish I would have made an effort to see sooner.  These guys know how to put on an excellent show.  They sounded great and looked great (those beards!). Luckily, they’ll be on this year’s Warped Tour.  I’ll make sure to catch them again and you should too!

I’m pretty sure I’ve already said every nice thing I could think of about Bayside.  These guys get better and better every time I see them.  I’ve watched plenty of bands who simply put on the same show each time they hit a city but Bayside is far from that. I’ve caught Bayside multiple times on the same tour and they never get boring. This night was no different. They started their set off with “Big Cheese” and then intertwined between older and newer songs to the tune of every person in the venue.  The crowd sang every single word it was beautiful.  Also, it was cute to see new dad Anthony Raneri wearing a shirt with his daughter’s name on it.  The guys ripped through a 20 song set and were all smiles and all energy throughout the whole thing.  The audience was just as responsive as the only time the crowd surfing stopped was during “Don’t Call Me Peanut” and then picked right back up again.  It was awesome. I’ve been often told that San Diego has a tough crowd and therefore is tough to play.  But if shows keep coming through like this one, the city will have a new reputation in no time. This tour is selling out very quickly so do yourself a favor and get tickets now before they’re gone. Tour dates are here.
