Sh*tty Barn Sessions in Spring Green, Wisconsin

A little less than halfway between Madison and the Minnesota border is a town of a little over 1,000 residents. When you drive out that way, it’s the stretches where fifteen minutes can pass between towns that dot a winding farmscape. Often you hear people chide the countryside, saying there’s not much out there. (The latest actually tried dismissing Milwaukee as a city, to which I roundly shot that false idea down.) Well, those people don’t know where to look. In Spring Green, a farmstead has a season of sessions tucked into a Christmas tree lit barn with concert posters and artwork along the red and white painted barn walls. Outside, fancy (Furthermore Beer is served-must try the Oscura cofee beer and MakeWeight triple pale) and cheap beer classics aid the warm atmosphere around benches and firepits. The ideal balance between concert and a come-together where you want to come early and stay late. Enjoy our photos from the evening, and if you ever can trek out to Spring Green, please do so. Or just find Furthermore and listen to Pioneer, Madison’s folk stalwarts, and Christopher Paul Stelling, a modern folk music minstrel with nimble fingers warranting legend, around a fire.
