Most would think that EMA and the Wild Beasts on the same bill is a bit of an odd pairing.  However, both acts managed to seamlessly kill it at the Echoplex the night of the 13th.  EMA has demanding stage presence -one can’t help but to watch in awe as she thrashes around stage.  At one point in her set she even covered the Violent Femme’s “Add It Up.”  She kept asking for “sexier lights and more smoke” which was fitting for the mood she creates on stage.  Whether she was playing guitar or not she seemed to guide the audience with literally the tips of her fingers.  The show at the Echoplex made one thing obvious: the Wild Beasts have a loyal following in Los Angeles.  They had friend Katie Harkin from Sky Larkin along to help play the keys and do some vocals in a few songs. The Wild Beasts play glorious live and fans never skipped a beat.   Between almost every song fans were shouting “WILD FUCKING BEASTS!”  The band went as far as joking about a possible name change. Their setlist consisted mostly of songs from their latest album Smother, but they did manage to sprinkle in some older tunes.  Some fans who had seen them all three times they had been in LA mentioned that this last show had been the best of all three.  The Wild Fucking Beasts definitely deliver -hopefully they make it across the pond again sometime soon.
