Trampled By Turtles is one of the best acts in the State. That being said, they have been touring like crazy so even though they are local (Duluth is a hair over two hours north, but still in Minnesota so we all consider it local) you don’t get to see them as much as you’d want. Enter: Dead Man Winter.
Dave Simonett of TBT has created and graced us with a side project based out of Minneapolis. The band took over Tuesday nights during the month of May as they have before, how awesome is that? The sound is an electric, rebellious country rock with a little bluegrass mixed in. Some of his songs from Trampled make their way over to this band’s setlist and it’s great to hear how truly solid the songs are written to the point where you cannot decide which band does each song better. Victory and New Orleans are among the songs that are shared.
The 24th was Bob Dylan’s 70th Birthday and this did not go uncelebrated. A stream of Dylan tunes came forth and reaffirmed the fact that I need to celebrate more of his library.
With one Tuesday left in the month, pretty damn sure I know where I’ll be that evening.
