If you could hire Wes Anderson to produce a film and soundtrack to document yourself during those summers you reminisce over first loves and breaking into cold storage facilities, Noah And The Whale has beat you to the punch with indie pop’s contender for best song of the summer. Featuring the required whistles and handclaps to earn the indie pop/rock seal of approval, the London folk-rock quartet’s single 5 Years Time (Sun Sun Sun) was recently released on iTunes.
The first track off their debut, Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down (September 16th in the U.S./August 11th in the U.K.) starts off with simplistic summer camp whistling before bonfire acoustic guitar and violin join in. The rest of the group comes charging in via the combination of ukulele and Laura Marling‘s seraphic supporting vocals. Charlie’s relaxed delivery evokes those happy moments everyone looks back nostalgically today, yesterday, and yesteryear. “Cause I’ll be laughing at all your silly little jokes and we’ll be laughing about how we used to smoke all those stupid little cigarettes, and drink stupid wine, cause it’s what we needed to have a good time. But it was fun fun fun…”
